A photo series of an unwitting crow couple bringing up a cuckoo. Generally it is strongly discouraged to photograph nesting birds. These were a few photos (one or two pictures once in several days) taken without any disturbance from my balcony.
26 June - First time I noticed four eggs in the crow's nest. One looks smaller and darker.
11 July. And that is the one that seems to hatch first.
12 July. Joined by a sibling ...
12 July - And here was a cuckoo, sitting quite close, apparently watching the nest. Could it be ?
30 July - Soon, other hatchlings and eggs disappeared. The only chick seemed to be thriving.
08 August - The parents have a tough time coping with the demanding chick.
10 August - As the chick is nearly old enough to fly away, the tired parents are caught in a moment of intimacy. Do they suspect anything, I wonder.
